WHAT DEFINES US IN THE MARKETPLACE?

We offer a 'flat fee' system, where you know the fees up front, no sliding scales, no hidden extras. Professional service without the Corporate fees. All placements carry a  personalised* replacement guarantee. Importantly, the Consultant who carries out the intial 'briefing', will be the Consultant filling your vacancy, we do not believe in sending out a 'gun salesperson' to secure the role, to then hand it over to a junior consultant to fill.  That's our point of difference, personalised, mature, discerning and experienced Consultants looking after your business from first point of contact until the completion of the replacement guarantee period.

All Candidates are:

  •  Comprehensively reference  and background checked.
  •  Skill Checked. Relevant to the appropriate Industry.  Using SkillCheck On Line Testing.
  •  Comprehensively interviewed using the latest in BBI (Behavioural Based Interviewing Techniques).
  • Mentored, Coached and given continous support throughout the Recruitment Process.
  • Only offered for placement after careful consideration of suitability.

. In short we take the hassle out of finding the most suitable applicant.

FLAT FEE,  EXECUTIVE, ENGINEERING,  RETAIL AND OFFICE SUPPORT  RECRUITMENT SERVICES:

Unlike so many others, we offer a flat fee service, regardless of the annual salary of prospective candidate.  We believe that you, the client should know the fees up front from Day 1, no hidden extras, no sliding scales.  Just a simple one off,  flat fee for placement.    Why should you pay higher fees based on salary? - it's false economy.

OUR RECRUITMENT SERVICE VS LARGER MULTI NATIONALS:

AS A CANDIDATE (JOB SEEKER)

Ever had the experience of going to a large 'well known' agency and being treated like a number?  Processed through the queue?  Interviewed by the indifferent?  Disregarded if you are over 40?  We believe in asking the questions, finding out what career path YOU have in mind?   Suitability?  Past experiences? Long Term Goals? Career Aspirations?   We value experience, We value maturity and above all we offer personalised service.   You can rest assured you won't be entered into a data base and referred to as candidate number 999, we pride ourselves on working exclusively for YOU.  How do we do this?

  • Reverse Marketing
  • Conducting Client Visits
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with existing clients
  • Networking
  • Creating Strategic Alliances
  • Sourcing out opportunites through Research and Development
  • Keeping abreast of current labour market trends

AS A CLIENT (EMPLOYER)

As a Client, there is little doubt you would have been approached by many Agencies professing to have the 'leading edge' on competitors, what gives an 'Agency' the edge or that something special?  We believe it is the ability to personalise service and not only listen to the Client, but actively take an interest in the vacany as if applying for it yourself.  Open and Transparent conversations in relation to the role, taking the job specification clearly and concisely and of course the defining factor - UNDERSTANDING what the role entails.

We offer a flat fee service - so you know where you stand from day 1.  Our areas of expertise are Executive Placements, Engineering , Office Support and Retail Staffing Solutions .

Our Consultants can all boast extensive Recruitment Experience in not only 'hands on' roles, but also in the Training Arena, therefore, not only do we know our business, we have practical, relative experience in such.

At Vicki B Consulting, we are happy to answer any questions to you may have in relation to our  Recruitment Services.

Handy Tips for an Effective CV;

Include Full Name and Address

Include Contactable phone numbers - Landline and Mobile

Include a verifiable and current email address (preferrably an ISP provided email)

List all relevant previous experience, even if it was many years ago, you can bullet point that experience, you never know what might come your way from a previous skill set.

List all current competencies in relation to Software Programmes and include what user level you are at;  ie, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.

List current certifications and qualifications and if possible include which Educational Institution they were issued from and what year.

Be Factual and try not to embellish - after all it is you who will have to live up to any high expectations you set.

Be Thorough with employment 'to' and 'from' dates.

Provide truthful and relevant 'Reasons for Vacating' previous roles.

Be able to provide authentic referees.

Be willing to attend interviews at various locations.

Skills Evaluation:

In today's competitive employment arena, having up to date computer skills is a basic necessity.  Often employers will insist that candidates possess a minimum of 'Intermediate' skills on all MS Applications or their preferred software.  Importantly, knowing what level of skill you have on a certain application will allow you to apply for the right job, not one which will see you uncomfortable or out of your depth.

Who hasn't been to an agency only to be confronted with the dreaded 'testing' process?  Unfortunately skills testing (or as we at Vicki B Consulting prefer - Skills Evaluations) are a standard part of the registration process of any reputable agency, and is often a process within the Quality Assurance Framework of the organisation.   However, there is an alternative -  If you are uncomfortable with the standard 'Agency' testing regime and would like to conduct these evaluations in the privacy of your own home on your own computer, we can give you access for a small fee.

Evaluations can include 'bundled' packages, such as Word, Excel and Power Point or can simply be a one off evaluation on any software program you are curious about.

Additionally, we are able to conduct evaluations on over 300 different software applications. Including popular items such as;

Team Building Events:

Q; What's the one thing that Great Team's share?

A; It's a common goal.

Great Teamwork makes things happen more than anything else in organisations.

Empowering people is more about attitude and behaviour towards staff than processes and tools.  True Teamwork is fostered by respect, encouragement, enthusiasm, caring for people and not exploiting or dictating to them.

What does it mean to be part of a TEAM?

What is the true definition of the word TEAM?

At Vicki B Consulting we are able to offer Team Building Activities on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. Additionally, we provide 'time out' sessions from intensive training days/regimes.

All sessions can of course be personalised to your exact requirements. Sessions can be delivered in a  fun and informal manner or in Corporate format.

SAMPLE EXERCISE

You can test your ability to see these differences by looking at the following terms that are associated with team building. Only one of these defines what a team is, can you spot it?

A group of people

Synergy

Sharing one aim

Whole > Sum

Co-operation

Flexibility

Working together

Reporting to one boss

Serving one customer

Most of these terms are features of good teams. For example, the expression 'whole > sum' is used when they are working well together. But this isn't true of a bad team, where collective performance sometimes falls short of what you might expect given the quality of individuals.

The Apollo Syndrome is a good example of this - where highly intelligent people often perform worse when working together than 'less able' members. The Apollo Syndrome is just one of sixteen team complexes that can inhibit collective performance.

The important phrase in the above table is "sharing one aim". It is having a shared goal that distinguishes a group from a team, and without understanding and commitment to that goal, all other attempts at building better performance will have limited value. It is therefore of the highest priority to have a firm foundation of:

  1. There being a common goal for which everyone has shared responsibility.
  2. Everyone understanding that goal and feeling committed to it.

Facilitation:

What is facilitation?

Facilitation is the process of enabling groups to work cooperatively and effectively. Facilitation is often an important part of usability activities.

In particular, facilitation is important in circumstances where people of diverse backgrounds, interests and capabilities work together. Examples of groups who may use or require the facilitation process include;

  • Sales Teams
  • Brainstorming Participants
  • Focus Groups
  • Workshop Participants

Below you will find some easy and effective tips that experienced facilitators use to ensure positive outcomes from and for their respective groups.  Of course, no two facilitations will be the same, that is why it is important to find a facilitator that comprehends and understands your exact requirements.  At Vicki B Consulting we have 3 highly experienced facilitators on hand to ensure customisation of your important process.  Our facilitation includes all the basics as listed below, plus complete and thorough customisation in accordance with your workplace strategies.

Effective Facilitation should include;

 A purpose and an Agenda

An experienced and  professional facilitator will ensure that all participants are aware of, and agree with, the purpose of the session. The purpose should be worded clearly and simply.  Ideally it should be visible at all times so that participants can be reminded of it if necessary. A clear agenda helps focus participants on the work at hand, and helps the facilitator enforce timekeeping.

A clear Introduction of  people (participants)

Experienced facilitators know the benefits of having all participants know each other by name. We use name tags if appropriate.  We then have  all participants introduce themselves at the start of a session. The facilitator should always make the initial introduction with a brief summary about their experience first;  this helps others decide what they will say, and is often considered to be somewhat of an icebreaker.

Ensure physical requirements are met

It is the facilitators responsibility to ensure participants know the location of bathrooms. If you are providing food, check whether there are any specific dietary requirements. Groups in design sessions may become very enthusiastic about their work and reluctant to take breaks. Tired people do not work well. As a minimum, have a fifteen minute break every two hours.

Ground rules

Facilitators at Vicki B Consulting know the value of setting, writing and adhering to a set of ground rules, and ensuring that all participants agree to them. For example:

· All ideas are valid

· Have your say, and listen to others

· All participants are equal

· No mobile phones

· One meeting at a time

· Be punctual.

Providing An open environment

Groups work best when individuals are made to feel comfortable expressing their ideas. At Vicki B Consulting, we encourage all participants to listen to what others are saying. If a session is splintering into separate discussion groups, we halt them politely and ask them to deal with one discussion at a time, this is often a task that only an experienced, mature facilitator can pull off with aplomb.

Involving all participants

In any group, some individuals will be less inclined to speak up. At Vicki B Consulting, our facilitators watch out for signs that people are not involved. We are aware of any participant keeping their head down, doodling, or showing similar lack of engagement. Some people may be so quietly spoken that they are susceptible to interruptions by others. To engage and encourage these people, we ask them for their opinions and comments.

Pay attention

As a facilitator, you must be attentive to what is happening at all times. It is advisable not  to get side-tracked into long discussions with individuals, again, experienced facilitators work cohesively with all participants for maximum participation.

Lead by example

At Vicki B Consulting we encourage cooperative behaviour by behaving in a way that is at all times honest, open, respectful and non-partisan. If a disagreement arises,  we do not take sides. Instead, we ask the group to resolve the issue.

Relax and enjoy the process

Many people are nervous about facilitation. Your nervousness is much more apparent to yourself than to others.

Remember that it is the responsibility of group to work towards the required outcome –  an  experienced and importantly life seasoned facilitator is on hand to simply to support the process. If possible, we have someone critique our performance as facilitators after each session, and use this feedback to improve our skills.  At Vicki B Consulting we believe in and embrace a culture of continuous learning for all.
